31-01-2012 Ib Andresen Industri wins innovation award
Ib Andresen Industri was selected to receive the Innovation of the Year Award of Kerteminde Municipality and the Kerteminde Business Association.
At this year’s New Year levee, Kerteminde Municipality and the Kerteminde Business Association awarded their newly established “Innovation of the Year Award” – created to give recognition to a business in the municipality that has distinguished itself in innovation and which has shown initiative and enterprise in product development and marketing.
The winner of this year’s award is Ib Andresen Industri, located in Langeskov, for its introduction of a newly developed concept in 2011 for the manufacture of new and taller wind-turbine towers. This concept has been in the development process for a long time but saw a major breakthrough in 2011, which resulted in an important agreement with Siemens Wind Power and led to the establishment of IAI’s sister company, “Andresen Towers”, with Tom Andresen as the managing director. The agreement will mean increased turnover and the creation of new jobs in the municipality.
Jess Aagaard, Chairman of the Kerteminde Business Association, explains why Ib Andresen Industri was selected: “By creating Andresen Towers, Ib Andresen Industri has demonstrated the company’s innovative approach and high prioritisation of growth and development. We hope that Ib Andresen Industri fulfils its expectations for the manufacture of the towers.”
Mayor Sonja Rasmussen, who also took part in the selection, adds: “On behalf of Kerteminde Municipality, I am proud we have a business that so clearly manages to maintain focus on development and innovation. As a municipality, we are pleased with the prospect of new jobs at both the company and its potential suppliers. It always benefits our community when companies put Kerteminde on the world map. Success stories have an inspiring spillover effect.”
Proud winner
Tom Andresen, Managing Director, and Arne Kryger, Development Manager – both of whom accepted the award on behalf of Ib Andresen Industri – were naturally honoured. In this same context, CEO Ib Andresen states: “We are very pleased and proud to receive this award. It is an acknowledgement that our efforts actually help to make a difference. Naturally, there are obligations on a workplace like ours with so many employees. New developments do not come about without cost, but we are convinced that innovation is the way forward for Danish companies competing for customers.”
